Who it's for:

Registered nurses and other healthcare professionals working in clinical settings looking to enhance their confidence in preventing, detecting and managing instances of respiratory deterioration.

Why it's needed:

In 2022, approximately 8.5 million Australians (34%) were living with chronic respiratory conditions. These conditions significantly affect physical, psychological and social wellbeing and can lead to acute episodes requiring urgent care.

Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) requiring ventilation is one of the most common complications in our hospitals.Early detection and intervention are crucial in preventing further complications and improving patient outcomes. However, respiratory deterioration can often go unrecognised.

This course aims to enhance healthcare professionals' ability to detect early signs of respiratory deterioration and provide timely, effective interventions.

Purpose:

To ensure registered nurses and other healthcare professionals have the knowledge and skills needed to recognise and manage respiratory deterioration.
